October 17, 2025 at 4:00:00 a.m.
The Oscar Peterson Centennial Quartet (OPCQ) will be touring internationally throughout 2025, celebrating Oscar Petersons's life and music in a unique live concert presentation featuring music from Peterson's near seven decade career, multimedia presentations, and conversation. The core band features acclaimed musicians from Peterson's home of Canada, JUNO Award winners ROBI BOTOS (piano), MIKE DOWNES (bass) and JIM DOXAS (drums). Additionally the OPCQ is proud to welcome world renowned musician and ten year veteran of the Oscar Peterson Quartet, ULF WAKENIUS, on guitar.
The evening, with music direction led by Doxas, will take audiences on a musical retrospective of Oscar Peterson’s career, beautifully blending the styles and traditions that Peterson is known for, with the individual styles of each person on stage. Lastly, during the evening, Peterson’s youngest daughter, CÉLINE PETERSON, will join the band to offer the audience an intimate, anecdote-filled look into her father’s exceptional life and career. Ms. Peterson and the Oscar Peterson Quartet are proud to join forces in 2025 to celebrate Oscar Peterson’s centennial and to introduce to the general public one of the most important musical figures in Canadian history.
