Kate Hilliard (She / Her)

Kate Hilliard is an artist, educator, and curator. She has danced for a wide range of choreographers across Canada and Europe. Her own performances are often inspired by her experience as a mother and have been commissioned and presented across Turtle Island, in Mexico, Australia, Italy, and Germany. 

​

Kate loves bringing young people together through creative experiences and has worked developing curriculum in several boards of education across Ontario. She has been faculty at Toronto Metropolitan University in the Dance and Acting departments since 2015. A strong believer in interdisciplinary learning, Kate sees the confidence and adaptive skills that children find through creative practice.

 

In 2020 she moved back to her native Orillia and helped found Arts Orillia, where she is currently Artistic Director. In this role, Kate is passionate to make more room for young people on stages, in galleries, and through public arts projects.

Alondra Vega-Zaldivar (She / Her)

Cuban-born Alondra Vega-Zaldivar is a composer, performer, producer, and teacher residing in Barrie, Ontario. She is the founder, curator and performer/composer of the Art Song Collaborative Project (ASCP), a project she created to bring Canadian and International artists together in the creation and collaboration of new operas through song. Her compositions have been performed across Canada, the United States, and reaching as far as Milna, Croatia. 

 

As a teacher Alondra is very passionate about training the next generation and sharing her love for music. She's been teaching the acclaimed Yamaha Music Program as well as individual piano and voice lessons for over 10 years, currently at 88Keys Music School in Richmond Hill, and Modern Music Studios in Barrie.  

 

She is composer at the Canadian Music Centre and part of the Regional Advisory Council of the CMC, and recently joined the team of Arts Orillia as Intern Producer thanks to the Metcalf Foundation. She is excited to bring her skills and expertise to the Orillia area as she herself continues to grow.

Sean Rees (He / Him)

Sean Rees is an artist and educator specializing in graphic design, web design, photography, illustration, and fibre arts. He teaches at Lakehead University and gives creative workshops in local Orillia elementary schools.

 

Sean is a passionate advocate for the transformative power of the arts and has a deep commitment to fostering creativity, promoting cultural understanding, and empowering the next generation of artists. 

​

As a father, he believes that making things with his kids will teach them to be innovative, adaptive, and full of curiosity. He is excited to have the opportunity to create with the young people at the Arts Orillia Summer Arts Camps, and knows there will be lots of opportunities for learning and fun in these special weeks.
